Acknowledgements

The journal relies on our core supporters to keep going and we gratefully acknowledge the significant funding we receive from them. We are indebted to their long-term commitment towards the continuing education of eye care professionals working in low resource and isolated settings where the burden of eye disease and blindness is greatest.

Become a core supporter

Our publisher, the International Centre for Eye Health, is actively seeking more core supporters to continue and develop the journal. Minimum cost is £20,000 per annum.

Why our core supporters fund the journal

ORBIS is dedicated to preserving and restoring the sight of the poorest people in the poorest communities across the world. We provide the tools, training and technology necessary for hospitals in developing countries to make eye care available to all.

Empowering and enhancing the skills of eye care teams in developing countries is at the heart of ORBIS’s work. The Community Eye Health Journal talks directly to those making a difference on the ground and complements our work very well. We are proud to support such a vital educational and informative resource for eye cares teams around the world.”

CBM is an international Christian development organisation, committed to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the poorest countries of the world. CBM’s vision is an inclusive world in which all persons with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

CBM supports the Community Eye Health Journal because it is an essential platform for knowledge and information sharing in the field of eye health in development contexts. CBM’s partner organisations both contribute to and benefit from the expertise collated and communicated through the journal.”

Sightsavers‘ mission is to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities. We work with local partners in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

We see the Community Eye Health Journal as a unifying medium that connects eye health practitioners with related research and evidence while also providing examples of good practice from all over the world. Sightsavers considers the ‘Journal’ an excellent example of knowledge management in the eye health sector and thus is committed to supporting its dissemination and diffusion of learning across regions and countries.”

“The vision of Light for the World (previously Dark & Light Foundation) is that everywhere in the world, people should not have to fear becoming and staying needlessly blind and people with a disability should be able to live a life of dignity. Our mission is dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest and least served communities in developing countries.

Light for the World supports the journal because the purpose of the journal is to provide eye health workers in developing countries with up-to-date information to help them deliver the best possible quality of eye care to the poorest and most needy communities. The journal provides local eye workers with information and teaching aids, they could otherwise not access. The journal is an important tool in achieving the VISION 2020 goals.”
