RAAB 5

RAAB 5 manual

RAAB 5 is a free package for the entry and analysis of data from rapid assessment of avoidable blindness surveys. The package contains software (Windows only), supporting documentation and training materials.

RAAB 5 has been comprehensively redeveloped and improved from the previous version published in 2007. New features in RAAB 5 include: Summary reports on key outputs, Optional Diabetic Retinopathy module plus supporting materials, Spanish lanaguage version, Improved survey and IOV forms, support for Windows Vista, 7 and 8.

The RAAB 5 update also includes tables on Functional Low Vision: people aged 50+ with best corrected VA<6/18 to PL+ in the better eye, which cannot be treated anymore. With increasing life expectancy, an increasing treatment options in eye care, avoidable blindness is reducing but unavoidable blindness is increasing. Authors: Hans Limburg and Walter Meester. RAAB training certification

Good planning and organisation are vital for success when carrying out RAAB surveys. We strongly advise you to co-ordinate with a certified RAAB trainer when planning a RAAB survey. The International Centre for Eye Health maintains a list of certified RAAB trainers on its website.
